St. Benedict of Nursia founded the great Benedictine monastery in 530AD at Monte Casino, Italy at a time of great upheavel in the Dark Ages. He established the monastic life in service of God and His people which became known as the Benedictine rule.

St. Benedict symbolizes how prayer can lead to peace within and in the communities we are a part of. St. Benedict's medallion is seen as powerful for it declares the wearer's trust in God and obedience in His authority over evil. It is a medallion of protection and spiritual stability. By carrying the medallion, the wearer reminds the self of God's mission appointed to His children - to make the world a better place by doing good in His name.
